“Batty Rider Shorts”: Lila Iké calls to protect children in new single

Jamaican artist Lila Iké continues to attract attention as one of the most promising stars of the new crop of reggae dancehall music artists on the island. With the launch of “Batty Rider Shorts”, The singer presents her first single since the release of her debut EP in 2020, The Experience.

The song carries an important and powerful message of responsibility, a strong call to protect and nurture youth. “Batty Rider Shorts” addresses child sex trafficking and pedophilia, a recurring problem around the world, but particularly close to Lila's heart, as it has been devastating her home country where there has been an alarming rate of missing girls, murders, rapes and reports of child abuse in the last year alone.

Singer, known for its combination of reggae genres, R&B, dancehall y hip hop, talk about the meaning of the song: “My hope is that a little girl who doesn't understand why a particular man is being so nice to her will hear a song like this and wonder 'Hmm, I wonder if you're trying …’ because many girls are simply not socialized into healthy relationships”.

And continued: “I think it's very important to talk about these things.. The history of our music was a means to bring information to the people, especially reggae music. we can have fun, listen to party and dance music and songs about love, but we still have real problems that also need to be addressed”.

Lila Iké will continue to release new music during the second half of this year and is currently recording music for her anticipated debut album. In the month of October, will return to the stage with a mini tour of Europe and will play songs from his EP The Experience for the first time live.
