always current: Spanish classics in the style of Reggae "Kitra"

Our first encounter with you, Chalice Reggae readers, It was precisely through the publication of an extensive interview with the Chilean band “Latin football / Rock / Reggae” on the occasion of its recent presentation at the Rototom Sunsplash Festival, but also in the context of their 16 years of history.

As we told you in that entertaining conversation we had with the band, In these long years of history the “Kitra” have managed, and quite well, to stay current on the scene, always surprising with news for his followers and for Reggae listeners in general.

On this occasion the national band, whose name means “kite” in Mapudungun, said goodbye to the year 2015 with this one, the first volume of a series of EPs that they plan to publish as part of the band's personal “tastes” while, in parallel, They continue working on what will be their next material.

“We all proposed classics in Spanish that we liked. So we were selecting which ones we liked the most and seeing which ones worked best to version them., some for content, others for memories, etc… “Each one had his grace.”, comments Matías Malinarich, bassist of the band, who also remembers that “the idea of this EP was to treat yourself. One always has songs that he compiles on this musical journey and that he would like “make own”, almost as if one had composed and written them”.

In conversation with Reggae Chalice, Matias, who is also one of the founders of “Kitra”, He added that this selection “is intended as the first volume of a series of EPs with different themes.”. These were classics in Spanish, the next one could be duets, Reggae classics, instrumental, an EP of pure rocksteady or ska, who knows. The fun thing is that it was said and done and there will be as many as we can think of, while in parallel we work on our usual music, with own themes”.

L.R.R Vol Versions. 1"contains three Reggae interpretations of classic songs"Dancing with your shadow Alelí”, Argentine huaino that became known in our country after Víctor Heredia won the folklore competition at the Viña del Mar Festival with this song in the year 2004; “my big night”, Spanish adaptation of 'Tenez vous bien', original song by Italian Salvatore Adamo; and finally, “For the people what belongs to the people”, original song by Piero, Latin American rock and trova singer-songwriter who published this song in 1973.
