Restauran unreleased tapes Bob Marley found in a basement

Just as if it were a gift for his birthday 72, This Monday it was learned of the restoration of a dozen masters of live recordings of four concerts performed by Bob Marley in London and Paris, in between 1974 Y 1978, which were found after remaining for more than 35 years in a basement.

These analog tapes, known in musical circles as “the lost masters”, They were found in northwest London, in the basement of one of the modest hotels where Bob and the band stayed on some of these European tours in the mid-1990s. 70.

These are official high-quality recordings of the concerts, which in some cases have only been heard before in pirated or inferior versions.

Due to the damage they presented, the chances of them being saved looked complicated, largely due to water and mold, but the team headed by the sound technician, Martin Nichols, was able to recover them after 12 months of work.

Nichols assured that the damage was such that if someone had played any of these tapes, These would have been lost forever and their restoration would have become impossible..

In total, The collection was made up of 13 reels with original recordings of the concerts in – at the London Lyceum (1975), el Hammersmith Odeon (1976), at the rainbow, also in London (1977), and the Pavilion of Paris (1978). Of them, 10 were restored, two were blank and another was too damaged to be recovered..

One of the advantages of these recordings is that they were made in the only mobile studio in 24 tracks in the UK at the time, loaned to Marley and the Wailers by the Rolling Stones.

“The final result has really surprised me since they are now in a digital format and are of very high quality, which shows that the original recordings were done very professionally”, Nichols added..
