Veterans and new generations of reggae will give life to a new Rototom Sunsplash

The Rototom Sunsplash, the most important reggae event in Europe, prepares its twenty-eighth edition to be held between 16 and the 22 of August of this year in Benicassim, Spain, frente a las costas del Mar Balear.

Among the new generations of the lineup is the recent Grammy winner for best reggae album, Kabaka Pyramid, in addition to Protoje & The Indiggnation, Lila Iké, among others.

Other notables with extensive careers who will also be present at the Spanish event will be Junior Marvin -Bob Marley's former guitarist & The Wailers-, Johnny Osbourne, Willi Williams y Linval Thompson.

Also appearing on the poster are dancehall representatives from the 90 as Capleton, Anthony B, Gentleman y Queen Omega.

Latin America will be represented by the Argentine band Nonpalidece, that recently visited Chile offering four shows in the country, by the trans-Andean rapper Thunder and the Mexicans Rompe Pera Sound, at the forefront of the contemporary international cumbiera scene.

While, the African reggae scene will say present with the Angolan one Pongo, the nigerian Yemi Alade and the ivorian The bitch Jah Fakoly.

Jaria's award for Rototom

The Rototom Sunsplash was recently awarded by the JaRIA (Jamaica Reggae Industry Association) for its impact on the promotion and development of the reggae music industry.

Specific, The category in which the European event was awarded was “Extraordinary Impact on the Reggae Industry Promoter Award 2023”.

At a ceremony held last April in Kingston, the artistic director of the festival Sabrina Trovant, valoró la importancia de este premio.
