After almost five years the American reggae band SOY (Soldiers of Jah Army) re-releases an album. This time it is about Without Surrender, his eleventh studio production that is now available on all digital platforms starting this Friday 31 july 1st.
This album follows Beauty in The Silence of 2021, with which the group won the Grammy for the best reggae album in 2022, the first American band to obtain this award.
In those almost 5 years the group formed by Jacob Hemphill, Bobby Lee Jefferson, Ryan Berty, Kenneth Brownell, Patrick O’Shea, Hellman Escorcia, Rafael Rodríguez and Trevor Young dedicated themselves to writing and then came up with this album 14 tracks.
“This is what our albums usually are. It's a collection of songs that I or they have been writing, then we get together, we put them together and launch them. This is how it works. “We wrote a bunch of songs and then we released an album.”, commented the vocalist Jacob Hemphill quoted by the Mexican newspaper Excelsior.
Hemphill stressed that for this production they chose 14 songs that they hope will be to the taste of their followers.
“I hope that each song makes it clear what aspect of human existence it refers to.”. The goal of music is to accompany people in their own experiences, how you live them in yours, because we are all similar”, the vocalist added.
The production has multiple collaborations, among which are those of another Grammy winner such as Kabaka Pyramid, on the topic “World That We’re Livin In”; The Elovaters in “Water”; or Seal in “Nothing Lasts Forever”, among others.
After the release of the album, SOJA will make the live presentation this Saturday 1 August at the Plaza Stage at the National Park in Washington DC, U.S, and then start a tour Without Surrender under the arm.
