- Only in the Metropolitan Region are at least 50 community pots by commune, in those with higher rates of poverty and social vulnerability.
- “For an artist, the best work is always the last one”, José Dolores said to Reggae Chalice.
"she", “Papa”, "Pepper", "Onion", "Oil", the basis of a “Common Pot”, ingredients that have been the basis of sustenance for many families who for more than three months have had to resort to these expressions of solidarity from the people in times of crisis, like those currently experienced due to the coronavirus pandemic, and its impact on the economy, which has caused a high increase in unemployment, and by default, has caused a significant number of the population to be in a situation of hunger, both in Chile and throughout the American continent and in the world in general.
These ingredients are what make up the new EP by Chilean artist José Dolores, who in this new self-managed production makes an x-ray of this reality that has also affected the world of Reggae, many musicians, singers, Workers in general of the genre have been directly affected by the current situation, Although it has always been a challenge to make a living from Reggae, Quarantines and the pandemic have made it practically impossible.
With “Olla Común” José Dolores takes a social journey with the rhyme that characterizes him, a story that tells about the different situations that have been experienced in recent months under rhythms inspired by black music, urban music, digital, electronics, with african roots: in “Ajo” a song to the heart and life, in “Papa” the fight, the riots and the Molotov; in “Pimienta” -the first single that was released from this EP exclusively by Reggae Chalice-, a critique of the violence of the system and the abuse of both institutional and all kinds of power; in “Onion” impatience and desperation; in “Oil” the resistance to oppression.
“When the tools to have the essentials are scarce or hidden, solidarity triumphs over selfishness, dignity over the superfluous. “We are going to feed ourselves with what we have at hand.”, The artist detailed in a press release where he also added that this work “evokes a cry against the injustice caused by abuse and rape.”, as a form of submission through economic or authoritarian power, even in the middle of the century 21. “A protest and self-criticism to eradicate those means of death and domination that chain us to suffering.”.
Ten days before the release of this EP Reggae Chalice spoke with José Dolores and consulted about the response he has had from the public, The self-taught musician said that “it has been wonderful, It has been surprising, “It has been gratifying and has brought a lot of dignity to my work.”
“Many people have debated essential products in recent months and few people mention art or culture and even less music, Then I realized that for many people music is essential and they showed it to me with their desire to have the album and have reservations made a week before the premiere.. Almost two weeks before the premiere, “Many people already have the EP in their soundsystem and in their hearts.”, express.
