Simply Legends. A show that could well have been performed in Jamaica in the years 60 was experienced last night at the Caupolicán Theater before an enthusiastic audience that came to witness the shows of The Twinkle Brothers Y The Skatalites.
More than 120 years of combined experience, Both bands presented the best of their repertoire to delight those around 4.000 people who filled the Santiago stronghold this Sunday 8 from December.
This reggae and ska party had, in the run-up to Rootz Hi Fi, livening up the session, in addition to the Ecuadorian Luis Alcivar and all the cumbia Trujillo Boy.
Then it was the turn The Twinkle Brothers, a band with 62 years of history that put all that experience on stage and debuted in Chile with a great presentation with all the sound of traditional roots reggae, style that they helped define over the years 70.
With Norman Grant to the head, their 74 years seemed not to influence his great energy that he displayed on stage, where he was accompanied by Black Steel, Dub Judah, Jerry Lionz Y Barry Prince.
In an hour and a half of show they played a large part of their main hits and songs like “Since I Threw The Comb Away”, “Never Get Burn”, “Free Africa”, “Repeant” Y “Rasta Pon Top”, among many others.
And then, around 21:00 hours, The highlight of the day arrived with The Skatalites, that unleashed ecstasy among the Santiago public, from children to seniors, who enjoyed this presentation by the legendary group that came to the country as part of its celebration tour for its 60 year career.
With Larry McDonald, Val Douglas and Vin Gordon to the head, In practically two hours of show, the group showed their main hits such as “Freedom Sounds”, “Guns of Navarone ” Y “Rock Fort Rock”, among many other musical pieces that still last over time.
In the middle of the show and with a Caupolicán who danced to the rhythm of ska, for the first time the band's last two singles were heard live, two collaborations with Chilean musicians.
First he went on stage Alvaro Henriquez to perform with the band the ska version of the Los Tres hit “A Violent Love”, followed by “The Macha”, who sang the classic of Chico Trujillo “Out of my life”, with which the theater collapsed.
With this show Skatalites closed their tour of Chile that included concerts in Concepción, La Serena and Quilpué twice, in addition to the presentation in Santiago and we already hope for your soon return.
