A band that defined global reggae
Third World was born in Kingston and 1973 by the hand of Stephen “Cat” Coore and the keyboardist Michael “Ibo” Cooper, both former members of Inner Circle, who together with the bassist Richard Daley and a group of elite musicians, They created a unique sound.
Their live debut was at the Jamaican independence celebration in 1974 and months later they were already open for Jackson 5 at the Kingston National Stadium. In 1976 they signed with Island Records and went on a European tour with Bob Marley & The Wailers. The world began to listen to them.
“Now That We’ve Found Love”, “96 Degrees in the Shade” and “Try Jah Love” took them to the UK and US charts in the 80, while nine Grammy nominations support his career.
