The Uruguayan artist Being Rasta last week he presented his most recent single “One Love”, a production made in collaboration with two Jamaican reggae greats such as Cedric Myton Y Mikey General.
The singer, which in November of last year was presented in Chile for the first time, said to Reggae Chalice what “'One Love’ It is a song made between Jamaica and Uruguay” and that was conceived after meeting both iconic performers around 2016.
That year he met Mikey General at the Rototom Sunsplash in Spain while Sergio Ramírez - the name of Ser Rasta- covered the event and good ties were generated to make this song that began to be made via WhatsApp.
“Le mandé el riddim - by Barbass Sound- to get inspired and then I came up with a lyric, a melody, I sang the chorus to him and he liked singing in Spanish. Afterwards he composed his part in English and that's when the song began to take life and shape.”, commented the singer.
“It's a dream to record with them”
Myton - founder of The Congos– He met him before and met him again at the same Spanish festival. Then, in 2017, He took him to Uruguay to perform a show and on his first day in the eastern country they recorded the song.
“The first day he arrived in Montevideo we put him in the studio and he recorded on the same riddim that I sent to Mikey General. He went into the studio and recorded in one take. He also invited to sing Carolina Barreiro, my life partner, who recorded the choruses there”, added the Uruguayan musician.
About the possibility of singing with these legends, Ser Rasta assured that “is incredible, unthinkable, a dream to be able to record with them. Although I shared other things, other experiences, sharing music is different, because that's why I started knowing them, so I admire them”.
The song was produced by Alfredo “Chole” Giannotti (CheBo Records), mixed by Johan Dub In cordoba, Argentina and mastered in Spain by the label Mad91, while the video was recorded in Jamaica and Uruguay.
