“The Akae Beka Scrolls”, Vaughn Benjamin's new posthumous album

A new sonic testament from the former leader of Midnite and Akae Beka died almost 5 years, , Vaughn Benjamin, was released a few days ago by Go a Chant, Trinity Farm, Y I-Roots Records.

Is about The Akae Beka Scrolls an album of 12 dub tracks, each named with a Psalm, recorded shortly before his death in the studio of Ras Biblical, Trinity Farm, located in Grass Valley, California.

Earlier this year the album was released Living Testament, which was recorded at these sessions at Trinity Farm, and the next day Vaughn told the musicians that he wanted to record some riddims.

On the occasion, the singer originally from the Virgin Islands He laid out his creative vision by humming what he wanted each musician to play. and of course each dub was composed and directed by him, who was in charge of synthesizers, whistle and percussion.

“‘The Akae Beka Scrolls’ manifested through Vaughn Benjamin's creative brilliance as a super-producer who magnetized musicians toward this unity of spirit and mind (…) These 12 dubs are a sound of veteran musicians of instruments in one unit and brothers in one unit throughout the entire earth”, commented Ras Biblical about this album.

Biblical emphasized that “each dub was directed with precision by Vaughn and, humbly, each musician gave life in real time to so much harmony and powers, this music is the reason, the cream of the crop”.

The Akae Beka Scrolls is a unique album in Akae Beka's discography, since it is an instrumental album with several interludes of Vaughn singing and playing acoustic guitar.

The musicians who participated in this album were Ras Pulse (drums and percussion); Scott Davis (drums); Kenyatta Itola (low); Ryan “Ishence” Willard (guitars); Manuel “‘Go A Chant” Guerra (keyboards, bass and percussion); Race Chemo (percussion); Y Vaughn Benjamin (synthesizer, whistle and percussion).
