As a great experience, This is how the national singer Mistah Dijah described his recent trip to the United States to participate in a show with the trans-Andean Alika and to record some songs from his next EP and an unusual collaboration with Red I, precursor of reggae in Chile.
In conversation with Chalice Reggae, He also recounted some of the difficulties he had getting to Oakland., California.
“I had a lot of trouble getting there., The flight had to be returned to Chile due to a technical fault, then I had to take a plane to Mexico, So I spent practically a whole day traveling and since I arrived before the hour I left with suitcases and everything from the airport to the show.. I arrived, I changed my clothes and we went out (to the stage)”, commented.
“The show was very good, very energetic, people received us very well (…) Imagine, open Alika's show, then being able to share with her on stage was irie, I have listened to it since I was a child, In fact, I told him that we had even listened to it since the time of Attitud María Marta and he laughed.”, said the singer.
further, He stressed that “playing with her, a reference in Latin America, tremendous singing woman, It was a very elevated experience., very rewarding in every aspect”.
Meeting with Red I
After the aforementioned show, recorded some songs from his next work at the Sonido Baylando studio, and also received a pleasant surprise.
“I was in a session all day recording songs and one of the brothers in the studio shows me a song with some Latins and tells me 'this is Red I'. He also told me that he was almost their neighbor., that they knew him, who worked with him”, commented Mistah Dijah, who still disbelieves, he thought “it was a reach of name, "I didn't know he was based there.".
“It was really fun when we started to realize that it was the same Red I and for me it is important and for my career. I am grateful for music, He took me to Oakland and to be there with a man who started the reggae movement in Chile and who likes my music., incredible, “It was a generational combination.”, valued.
This meeting led to a combination between both national musicians.
“We made a very particular song, old style, so the topic is going to be very fun, like a combination with a very raggamuffin style”.
About your next job, Mistah Dijah said that he hopes to have it by this month of October or at the latest in November.
“I recorded four songs that I hope to release this October, a small EP that is in the mixing process and we are ready to release it, in addition to the combination with Red I”, he concluded.
