Grammy: 141 albums compete for Best Reggae Album

– Until the 31 October will open the ratings will choose the select set of albums competing for this award.

The first round of voting for the Grammy Awards has begun 2019 with a total of 141 albums presented in the category of best reggae album. Between five and seven will be the selected discs, results to be announced next 5 from December.

Some of the names that have already been revealed by the press, that are part of the competing list- destacan Ziggy Marley (eight-time Grammy winner), the Sting-Shaggy combination, Popcaan, Etana, Romain Virgo, Jesse Royal, Protoje.

Black Uhuru joins the list this time around, with his newly released "As the World Turns", eighth nomination in Grammy history. The historic Jamaican Reggae band was the first to win the award in 1986.

International artists are present with names like the Italian Alborosie, and his project in collaboration with The Wailers United; so too soy, Rebelution, Common Kings y UB40 .

It is worth remembering some of the artists who have been winners of the Best Reggae Album such as Burning Spear, Sean Paul, Stephen Marley, Jimmy Cliff, Steel Pulse, Peter Tosh, Sly y Robbie, Toots and the Maytals, Buju Banton y Damian “Junior Gong” Marley.

The 61st Annual Grammy Awards Will Be Held At The Staples Center In Los Angeles, U.S, on Sunday 10 February next year.
