Fourth Meeting Kultural Black August in Concepción

“The black August is a month that has shaped the fight for our liberation like no other ... is a month of action; repressive action and revolutionary action. Action that has elevated and transformed our awareness of ourselves as self-determining people. Black August is a month of freedom fighters... Warriors who did not lie and did not sing simple victories!”. Malcolm X

“The spirit of Black August runs through centuries of black resistance, indigenous and multicultural. It is emblematic of the spirit of freedom. It is a spark burning slowly in the hearts of a people – hearts that long for freedom.”. Mummy of Abu-Jamal, 2003

With the Agosto Negro Collective we will hold the Agosto Negro Cultural Meeting for the 4th consecutive year. These Self-Education Conferences were created to generate multiple meetings around the struggle, the resistance and autonomy of the people. The Meeting consists of various activities where we can meet, to talk, propose and create spaces that nourish our consciousness, to move forward with principles that move away from the vices of the system and focus on building a healthier future for everyone. The activities that will be lifted the last week of August, We carry them out with pure solidarity and self-management.

The main idea of the meeting is to be a unifying point for the various struggles for dignity and freedom at a global level.. Be a contribution to the decolonization of our souls and life itself, to rediscover our true identity, of ancestral roots, of beautiful mixture and blackness, that Eurocentric Western civilization wants to hide from us so much, in their “official history” told by the invaders: men, white and rich. Like untamed nature that breaks the cement, We will dignify ancient memory and reveal the true history of our people, oral history not written in his books, we will know the struggles of the damned of the earth, of enslaved peoples, Africans, indigenous people and all the oppressed people of the world who continue fighting for Total Liberation.

The tradition of Black August (Black August) was born in the years 70 to honor George Jackson, Jonathan Jackson and other fallen comrades in a revolutionary struggle inside California prisons. Since then, has spread to other parts of the world with an emphasis on resistance, solidarity, the unit, self-sacrifice and spiritual renewal. Always with the vision of supporting dozens of political prisoners who have spent three, four decades or more in prison, punished for fighting for equal rights and justice, to fight against oppression, against racism and against this entire evil system of colonialist-capitalist-patriarchal domination.

The fight for freedom has always been universal. There are several historical dates in the month of August that highlight the history of African slavery and the resistance against it.. We celebrate and remember all the freedom fighters who have given their lives for a more dignified life for all without distinction.!

The Black August Meeting is an instance of ideas, reflection and action for the awakening of consciousness and the edification of the spirit, in order to continue breaking all our chains and advance in the radical transformation of society, where there are neither masters nor slaves, that is to say, towards the human community, where love prevails, humility, mutual support and respect for all living beings of Mother Earth.

Nobody is forgotten!:
Marcus Garvey, Matias Catrileo, Claudia Lopez, Mummy of Abu-Jamal, Jaime Mendoza Collio, Macarena Valdes, Rodrigo Melinao, Assata shakur, Jose Huenante, Joanne Florville, Santiago Maldonado, Alex Lemún, Marielle Franco, etc. ¡Si unx cae, thousands will rise!
