Edgardo Garrido, 36 years, Dj Galo Green. For four years he was one of the DJs of the well-known club La Isla in Maipú. Jammin Club at the rear, the historic pioneering club exclusive reggae dancehall in South America, became his home. In recent months he has been able to work again under the wing of the Roots Bar, in Barrio Bellavista.
– How has the pandemic affected you as a music worker??
Although monetarily the decline is notorious, son 4 days in the week that no longer exist in the lucrative plane, I appreciate this pause to order the vibe. They have been days of creation, of reflexion, we are artists we work with feelings, with sensations and I was forgetting this with the rhythm that I was taking. It is the good part of this situation or so I have tried to take it in these months.
– Do you apply for any benefit or have you received government support this year?
Nothing, a true reflection of the low position that this State has with art, regrettable, by my colleagues and colleagues who have their full time dedicated to this.
– Although it has been revoked, How does the measure that was intended to be instituted affect you and what opinion does it deserve??
Outrageous is little, without sense, populist, absurd. A penalty, with how well music has always sheltered us, more in these times. I understand the reasons but it is the least efficient way to take care of citizens.
This months, Thanks god, we were able to meet with the public, We resumed meetings on Mondays with DJ Bobby R with the project #Sanlunes of Club Jammin but this time under the eaves of Restobar Roots. Together with my partner DJ Prince B we visited the Isla Club a few times, everything in these new openings and renewed adaptations of the premises so it affects me in every aspect.
(Ban music in venues) kill all hope of having a good time, I'm not talking about a Cachagüa type party, I'm talking about having a good time, serving me something with the people I love, mental health. Obviously it would leave me without sharing this disc joke that I love so much.
