Global Rastafari movement unites to raise funds for reconstruction

Thirty-two Rastafari organizations in the world have joined together in an unprecedented initiative to raise funds under the name “Relief, Reconstruction and Uprising” (Relief, Rebuild & Rise), that seeks to achieve the goal of 500.000 Dollars to the reconstruction of Rastafari centers in Jamaica destroyed by Hurricane Melissa.

This historic fundraising event that will be broadcast online, called “webathon”, which is celebrated at the beginning of February, Black History Month in the US. UU. and the Reggae Month in Jamaica, marks an unprecedented unity within the Jamaican Rastafarian community and will be broadcast live on RDDM Media on 1 February 2026 to 11:00 EAST HOURS (13:00 Chile hours).

Two months after Hurricane Melissa, Rastafarian elders and families remain in a desperate situation, as major relief efforts have not addressed infrastructure needs, feeding, health and/or cultural of the Rastafarian community.

Humanitarian support to five Rastafari Centers

This initiative, organization driven Rastafari Mansions and Organizations (RMO), intend provide temporary shelter to vulnerable Rastafarian members and humanitarian support with cultural relevance to five Rastafari Community Centers located in the parishes of St. James, St. Elizabeth, Trelawny y st. Thomas, communities that were destroyed or severely damaged by the historic category five hurricane.

Focused on preserving the Rastafari legacy in Jamaica and contributing to the country's overall national recovery, Funds will be used to repair or rebuild hurricane-proof facilities, develop sustainable agriculture solutions, water and energy, as well as to offer social services and promote income generation opportunities.

The speakers and artists who will participate

The president of the Crown Council of Ethiopia is already confirmed as speakers for the event, His Imperial Highness the Príncipe of the Sahle Selassie Sahle (grandson of Emperor Haile Selassie I), the Dr. Julius Garvey (son of Marcus Garvey) and the rasta musician and poet singer “Echoes of Sound Systems – When the Two 7’s Clash” is presented as the Sound Clash to end all the sound clashes that will compete for the first major.

The community activist will also speak Rizza Islam, the wellness gurus Priest Kailash and the Dr. Bobby Holistic.

The artists who are already confirmed for the saon fundraising day Grammy winners Julian Marley, Gramps Morgan Y Kabaka Pyramid; the ghanaian Rocky Dawuni, four-time Grammy nominee; as well as Sister Carol, Yami Bolo, Jah9, Spragga Benz, Hempress Sativa, among others.

When asked for his opinion on this historic unified movement, Reggae star Julian Marley responded: “It is union that will make us resilient. I hope open hearts around the world will show urgent support”.

When asked about the importance of this fundraising initiative for the world, Pamela “Sis Nanny” Williams, co-president of RMO, declared: “This is a call for solidarity, “no to charity”.

Williams, who is also an executive with Coral Gardens Benevolent Society (the charity designated to handle donations), added that “the Rastafari movement globalized the image, the language and sound of Jamaica (reggae), attracting billions of dollars in tourism spending from people around the world”.

Rastafari Mansions and Organizations

Founded in 2022, Rastafari Mansions and Organizations (RMO) It is a formal coalition of fourteen (14) entities in Jamaica with the common mission of unification, Rastafarian development and collective responsibility.

The “webathon” four-hour event is organized by RMO and the Rastafari Media and Communication Network, which includes: Rastafari TV, The Lion’s Voice, Jus’ Jah Magazine, Rastafari Jams, Skyline Levels, Ubuntu Foundation, M-Studios, I Never Knew TV e IjahStars The Mindset.

Official partners also include the DARC Foundation, the Caribbean Rastafari Organization (CRO), the Continental Rastafari Council (RCC), the Ethiopian World Federation (EWF), the Universal Development of Ras Tafari (DRY), the Order of the Theocratic Kingdom of Nyahbinghi (TRON) and the Pan-African Collective of the Nation of Global Rastafari Unity (Global RUN).
