King Addies: 38 years and still king

An undeniable icon in the international industry of sound clash (or clash of sounds), which often overshadows nearly four decades of successfully bombing parties, concerts and festivals around the world, the 'sound killer’ America's largest proves once again that the legendary King Addies it's much more than a clash of royalty sounds.

Already in its seventh year of existence, Dandy Shandy has become the leading Caribbean party brand of the era of the 90 on the east coast of the United States. A collaborative effort between old friends, the event team has developed an authentic Jamaican outdoor experience, which has now withstood the Covid-19 test. The event that usually takes place twice a year (in May and November), could not be done in 2020 for the sake of public safety and on the occasion of the pandemic.

Having previously featured other major international sounds like Stonelove, Bass Odyssey, Travelers y Waggy T, Jazzy T added that “this is the busiest event and the best Dandy Shandy event so far”. The outstanding party far exceeded the attendance of the previous year with the recent staging, and not only did he come back stronger in numbers, rather, many clients flew in from all over the country for the one-night event.

further, several international artists attended, and some of Jamaica's biggest stars - who weren't officially hired by the event- surprised with impromptu appearances on stage. Shaggy, Wayne Wonder, Baby Cham and Christoper Martin capped off an evening of exciting and nostalgic fun with original vibes from sound system culture.. Beloved entertainers rode the popular Showtime Riddim live on the sound system, along with iconic selectors.

Presented with Renaissance and HMV (the resident sounds in Dandy Shandy), when asked about the experience, the king addies picker, KingPin, said “it was epic to see a huge crowd enjoying, dancing and singing again. Especially seeing the artists performing on stage and having fun too like they are regulars. I felt like we were finally back to normal”.

Aggressively spinning and performing on some of the biggest stages in countries like Germany, Italy, Spain, France, Belgium, Austria, Portugal, Switzerland, Israel, Japan, the United Kingdom, throughout the American continent, the Caribbean and many other markets for nearly four generations of selector talent in the sound, America's star sound ended 2019 strengthened with a total show count in 79 cities around the world. Then came the Covid.

Currently celebrating his 38 anniversary, King Addies has implemented a series of hybrid celebrations during 2021, both virtually and in person in New York locations. His big final event that already promises a huge number of stars will be held in Brooklyn, in December of this year.
