The next 7 of November Nexo Cinema will close the successful cycle Film and reggae sessions, presenting the documentary “Dub Echoes” (2008), directed by Bruno Natal, that focuses on dub, electronic music and hip hop.
As was tradition during this 2025, every first Friday of the month Nexo Cinema organized the Film and Reggae Sessions, a space to unite the reggae and ska loving community, sharing movies and music and this final chapter will be dedicated to dub.
In the case of this last exhibition, the documentary “Dub Echoes” goes through interviews more than 40 key names the history of dub, electronic music and hip hop, showing the somewhat unknown relationship between all these genres.
Dub emerged in the years 60 Y 70 as a subgenre of reggae thanks to the experimentation of Jamaican engineers who began to remove voices and instruments at certain times, and also adding effects like echoes, reverbs and delays, creating a totally new sound.
This new sound spread throughout the world and was a vehicle for the development of other musical expressions., like hip hop or even electronic music.
The event will take place as always in Company of Jesus 1068, steps from the Plaza de Armas metro, to 21:30 hours.
