This event, which is part of the seventh anniversary of the cultural cafeteria, will feature artists like Kameleba, 12 tribes, Surco Pando, among many others.

The 31 July 2018 Bunna Cafe regretfully reported through its social networks that the premises located at the beginning of the Cajón del Maipo, In the work sector, was closed and the project went on hiatus, which caused shock and sorrow among its diners, friends and loved ones who filled their profiles with messages of support and encouragement.

Although that episode meant a pause in the cafeteria as an established location, The Bunna concept has remained current, so much so that the next 15 October will be done the First International Arts Festival and coffee, this framed in the seventh anniversary of the start of the project.

Jorge Espinoza, the “Brother Jordan”, the creator – together with his family- by Bunna, explains to Reggae Chalice that this Festival has been in the making for at least a year to resume contact with all followers and friends after the break and then also due to the pandemic.

“The pandemic came, I was the father of twins in September of last year and the need was born to appear again with Bunna's Seventh Anniversary, wanting to capture a meeting of coffee arts and culture in a festival bringing together many bands, in a day from 10:00 hours, with live music, with culture, with natural juices, with healthy eating, with workshops, with education, in the Cajon del Maipo”, Jorge said., who is also the general producer of this show.

The occasion will also serve to “launch our official brand as Bunna Café Chile”, Espinoza adds, in a “limited edition” with grains imported directly from Ethiopia, the birthplace of coffee.

One of the main aspects of this artistic day, in the voice of your organizer, is to resume daytime events, as it happened in the reggae of yesteryear, at the beginning of the years 2000, so that entire families can attend.

“Although Bunna is born in 2015, With my rasta friends from Puente Alto we have been making sound systems and gigs for at least 20 years with a similar concept: let the children go, the family, outdoor, activities with culture, which was what we lived when we were younger, reggae culture”, emphasizes.

How was the Bunna project born??

Based on a family problem, I was about to break up. That's where the idea of doing something different was born. and before making the decision to leave everything - the construction industry where he worked, I dropped out of engineering studies when I was only one year away- In exchange for starting my own business, I went to the hill to think about what to do.. With my friend Felipe, also of “puente”, We fished out the backpacks to make a journey that Felipe's grandfather described in a very old notebook.: depart from the Quebrada de Macul and climb to the top of the San Ramón hill, and then reach the El Manzano estuary, the same one that arrives at the Cajón del Maipo.

I understand that on that trip you had an accident?

—It was a very nice experience to make the trip., but on the way down I had an accident, I fell into a ravine 15 meters and at that moment I only saw my daughters, I couldn't not be there for them, They didn't deserve to be alone. I rolled down the hill and was stopped by the roots of a plant known as “wild straw”. I was breathing heavily and I even fell asleep for about half an hour.. I woke up, I decided well what to do, I heard my friend yell at me “Jorge, Jorge”, he thought he had killed me, but there I answered that it was fine. Then, carefully and little by little I managed to get down and met him again..

And then, what happened?

That's when I decided to quit my job., I wanted to make a new life, I almost died, was now to make a change. I finally quit my job at 2015 and with the settlement I bought a Marley coffee machine, I looked for a place for two months until I came across a small theater located in Las Vertientes., in the Cajon del Maipo. my second daughter, Print, He is almost Bunna's age, Bunna is like another son too, was born after the accident. When we left the only thing we had was a coffee machine and a dream and nothing else.

And the name Bunna?

—The day before or a few days after I had a coffee and the African continent was made in the foam. I wondered how they said coffee in Ethiopia., I searched and discovered that coffee in Amharic – one of the main languages in Ethiopia- it was called bunna, that's where the name was born.
