The group of reggae selectors and singers, originally from Valparaíso, gathered in Quebrada Soundsystem celebrates its eighth anniversary next 6 december in Bars Valpo, on a sound journey that promises a lot of music, dance and enjoy, with the bass vibrating every fiber of the attendees.
This collective of reggae selectors and singers has dedicated itself to collecting and reproducing music on vinyl records., with a strong commitment to culture and education, holding cultural and reflection days around crucial topics of sound system culture such as racism, cultural appropriation and reparation.
The sound system is a cultural expression that was born in Kingston, Jamaica, in the decade of 50, when generators were assembled, record player and speakers or giant speakers in a truck for street parties, becoming one of the crucial elements for the development of modern Jamaican music and was vitally important in the emergence and spread of styles such as ska, el rocksteady, reggae and dub.
During these eight years of work, the collective has brought important exponents of reggae and sound system to Chile., like like Hugo Wolf (former member of Todos Tus Muertos and Los Fabulosos Cadillacs), Soom T, King Knomoh Y Noel Ellis (son of Alton Ellis), among others.
The team that gives life to Quebrada Soundsystem is very broad, On the one hand there are the boxmen Hans, Vito, Gian, Mauro, Barber Dub, Guest, Crozze, Alva y Naipán y Ronald Smith, next to the boxwoman Belén. On the other hand, the operators Kano and Buda; the selectors Master Curry y Dr. Jamaica and the animator and conductor of the sessions Pablo, with his toasting and DJ style.
The singers of the collective are 22 Ruzz, T-tchen, Sakuete, Pangikurü and Sistah Lore, while Alejo and Aneskita They welcome people who arrive at the Hall at the door, Y Camila, Belén, Side, Maria Dub and Sista China They are the ones who manage the bar and food for the crew, in addition to computer science Uncle People.
The celebration will be next 6 December at 21:00 hours in Bars Valpo, located in Salvador Donoso 1498, while tickets are available at Portaltickets and they are priced at $7.000 in presale, $10.000 general admission and $12.000 the day of the event.
