La Castrina Park hosts celebration 95 years of the “CoronaZion”

The 2 November is a very important date for the Rastafari movement, well that day, but of 1930, Race Tafari Coupled was crowned as Haile Selassie I, Emperor of Ethiopia, and his wife, Menen Asfaw, as empress.

This milestone is connected with the prediction of Marcus Garvey, who said you had to look at Africa, because when a “black king” was crowned, that would be the return of “Messiah” and the day of black liberation would be near.

Some in Jamaica saw in this coronation the fulfillment of Garvey's prophecy and adopted the name of the Ethiopian emperor for this new social and spiritual movement that was born on the island and spread throughout the world., lasting to this day.

In a couple of weeks will be fulfilled 95 years of the “CoronaZion” in Addis Ababa and to commemorate it in Chile there will be a Cultural Sunsystem in the commune of San Joaquin, specifically in La Castrina Park.

The cultural day, that honors the Emperor and Empress, will have -of course- Nyahbinghi songs and great selectors and MCs will also participate to liven up.

The commemoration is organized in a self-managed manner, with free entry, so the whole family can enjoy an alcohol-free activity.

The appointment is in La Castrina Park, between the 14:00 and the 22:00 hours, to celebrate one of the most important dates for the global Rastafari movement.
