The Mapuche rap singer Neculman He released his most recent single and video for the song a few weeks ago “Via Map”, a production made together with the well-known reggae producer Kutral Dub.
“Via Map”, which in Mapuzdungün means “Protective Spirit of the Earth”, is an innovative fusion of hip-hop, reggae and ancestral Mapuche elements.
“(The song) Focuses on promoting a message of peace, unity and understanding between the Mapuche and Chilean people. The song is a declaration of cultural resistance and a call for reconciliation, encapsulating the essence of my commitment to social justice and cultural identity”, posed the rapper from Viña del Mar.
Regarding the video clip, produced by “Vision Productions” in the commune of San Esteban, Andes Province, The singer stated that it is a powerful visual representation that tells a story of confrontation and resolution.
“In the video a 'peñi' is shown’ working the land, who faces a huinka (overwhelming man) with the intention of dispossessing him of his land and attacking him. The song is now available on Spotify and on different digital platforms, in addition to the official video clip, which already has more than three thousand views on YouTube.
Neculman, whose name means “Spirit of the Swift Condor”, highlighted that “This video clip not only illustrates the struggle, but also the capacity for reconciliation and the power of ancestral culture to overcome conflict. I hope that ‘Ngen Mapu’ serves as a catalyst for peace and mutual respect between our communities”.
While, Kutral Dub referred to this single stating that “when music and content are created in tune with our fight, this makes sense and reason, that's how it is in this collaboration”.
