– This Saturday 2 April will be held the sixth edition of the festival. The organization hopes to hold at least eight thousand people, just as it was during the contest 2015.
Concepción has historically been considered the birthplace of rock.. From there came nationally recognized bands such as Los Tres and Los Bunkers.. In that same city, the second largest in the country after Santiago, Ten years ago an underground project called “Natural Reggae” began to take shape., initiative that today is positioned as one of the most important Reggae Festivals throughout Chile, and the most transcendental in the south of our country.
Almost ten years of self-management and only three days from the version 2016 of this contest, Reggae Chalice spoke with one of the managers of the initiative, the local artist known as “Mista Coco”, who, looking back, tells us that “Natural Reggae was born from the need to show our musical work as Reggae artists., in a city that was then considered Rock and that lacked spaces for us”.
The southern singer added that “little by little and with the conviction of doing something important, We improved our self-management and from being a local festival we went on to bring the great national Reggae artists and today also from other countries., including Jamaica”.
The first four versions of the festival took place in the same city, in Conce. Since last year the producers decided to move the activity to San Pedro de la Paz, residential commune of greater Concepción, moment when nearly eight thousand people vibrated and enjoyed the version 2015, on a long day and for the whole family.
“It has been a natural growth. Without forcing anything the conditions have been met, people have appeared who have supported this project. Now it is a national festival where people come from all over Chile and without having such expensive artists it attracts many more people than many festivals.. It is the wave that is generated with Reggae, the space that people need”, expressed Mista Coco.
Natural Reggae for Peace 2016 will take place this saturday 2 of April, from 14 hrs, event free, familiar, which will feature the participation of “Souljah Afrika”, “Elevating Vibration”, “Jose Dolores”, “Cresposalem & From Alto Poder Band”, “Mista Coco & “El Barrio Moreno” as part of the national line up. for the second time for the people of Bíobio comes the dancehall reggae of “Papa Michigan”, High-level international artists will be presented such as “Papa Michigan” from Jamaica, living legend of Reggae and creator of one of the scene's historic duos like “Michigan & Smiley”; “Jah Fabio” from Mexico and “Jahricio” from Costa Rica. In charge of the party and the good musical selection will be DJs Massivo and Radikal, as well as the historic DJ collective of the port of Valparaíso, Arca Negra SoundSystem.
In times when we need to strengthen and promote Reggae events on a mass level, with good production and quality, Natural Reggae for Peace Without a doubt, it is a tremendous contribution on this difficult path.. We should replicate initiatives like this throughout the country..
Finally, Mista Coco ended by inviting the community to participate in this great Reggae event with positive vibrations., without forgetting the care of the environment. “Just to tell everyone that just as we do this madness that today is a reality, we can all do positive things. Everyone is invited to attend and enjoy a good time., one cool. We call on attendees to be clean and give a class on how youth earn and take care of their spaces.”.
