The Hard Rock Cafe Santiago was the setting in which Ecuadorian reggae singer Luis Alcivar He closed his mini-tour through Chile last 17 from December, which included a performance at the album's live launch The tree of life of the national band vibration Eleva.

On this occasion the singer presented an intimate show in which he showed his hits and also shared the stage with his national counterpart. Quique Neira -are “great reference”, as he has confessed- in which they performed the Bob Marley classic “Satisfy my Soul”.

“I thought I could write a message and it came true”

In recent years he has accumulated collaborations with artists from Chile, Panama, Argentina, Peru and Ecuador, in addition to performing in historical settings such as the Caupolicán Theater and the Pulsar Fair 2024.

The Guayaquil native has also worked actively and closely with the label Cosas Buenas Producciones and Quique Neira himself..

“I don't know why in an alienated thought I believed I could write and be close to that.”, write them a message and maybe I would receive a response. So that stimulus, felt from my heart, came true and then, insisting, insisting. So that's how it happened, at first thanking like crazy and now enjoying it”, said Luis Alcivar to Reggae Chalice Magazine after the show.

reggae scene “almost zero” in Ecuador

The reggae scene in Ecuador is almost non-existent, It is very small and not active, says the musician, ensuring that “in Quito the movement was bigger at the beginning”, but he maintained that with the passage of time it decreased, product of the “disemotion of the people”.

Therefore, For Luis Alcivar it is a surreal experience to be in contact and closeness with people who have achieved a career, a life of reggae and learning from them, because “for me it is really everything, “I value it and I try to take care of that experience no matter what.”.

You mentioned that the Chilean reggae scene has a very important impact in South America, How do you experience that from your perspective in Ecuador and other Latin American countries??

Lo What I can show most is that there are many old cult concerts, such as Gondwana in Viña 2001, Quique Neira in the SCD room in Vespucio. Those are cult concerts that my friends and I have listened to. 100, 200 times. Then there we realize that in reality what was generated back in the 2000 Y, which is still valid today, It is what marked the most trend for reggae in our region.

The projection of 2026 by Luis Alcivar

For this one 2026, The Ecuadorian hopes to have important collaborations, participation in festivals and being in good health, because “if I'm not healthy I can't do anything.””, express.

He also said that he hopes to make the first album of his career., since it has more than 12 singles so far, so he predicted a 2026 with more singles, more videos and be able to continue enjoying the music.

“Greetings to all the people of Reggae Chalice, the official reggae media of Chile and all of Latin America, you are all welcome to this family, you can listen to me on all platforms, all digital music distributors”, the musician closed.
