Bob Marley's film received six nominations at the NAACP Image Awards 2025

The movie Bob Marley: One Love Released a little less than a year ago and which portrays a period in the singer's life, it received six nominations at the Image Awards 2025 from the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, for its acronym in English).

The film will compete as “best movie” with Bad Boys: Ride or Die, The Piano Lesson, The Six Triple Eight Y Wicked.

Kingsley Ben-Adir, who played Bob Marley, is nominated as “best actor” and faces André Holland (Exhibiting Forgiveness), Colman Domingo (Sing Sing), John David Washington (The Piano Lesson) Y Martin Lawrence (Bad Boys: Ride or Die).

At the same time, Lashana Lynch is nominated as “best actress” for her role as Rita Marley, competing with Cynthia Erivo (Wicked), Kerry Washington (The Six Triple Eight), Lupita Nyong'o (A Quiet Place: Day One) Y Regina King (Shirley).

While, Reinaldo Marcus Green is nominated for “Best direction in a film” for his work on the film, competing against Jeymes Samuel (The Book of Clarence), Malcolm Washington (The Piano Lesson), Rachel Ross (Nickel Boys) Y Steve McQueen (Blitz).

The film will also compete in the category of “Best cast in a film”, competing with The Book of Clarence, The Piano Lesson, The Six Triple Eight Y Wicked.

Finally, the film also aspires to win the award for “Best soundtrack/compilation album”, category in which it competes with the soundtracks of Genius: MLK/X, Reasonable Doubt (season 2), The Book of Clarence Y Wicked.

The NAACP Image Awards are an annual event presented by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People to recognize exceptional performances in various media, including cinema, television, the theater, music and literature.

Winners will be announced on 22 February during the two-hour live broadcast of the 56th NAACP Image Awards from the Pasadena Civic Center, California, U.S.
