The national deejay presents live his latest album May This Hurt You, and you like it.
“This album is the closing of the pandemic cycle”, José Dolores reflects to refer to his latest production called This may hurt you and, you like it, which will be presented live on Wednesday 8 March at the SCD Room in Bellavista.
“The album is the closing of the pandemic cycle, period in which I edited Common Pot, VOV, The Amateur, Manifest and other singles. So it is an album that encompasses that time, the pandemic, the confinement, curfew”, stated at the outset.
Initially the album did not have the name it definitely received –”was going to be called Collage“, points out the Chilean deejay, since the concept varied along the way.
“Pain is a concept that I expanded from my name to what we have experienced in recent years.: the pain of losing people, of not being able to live your life, of being financially bad, the pain of experiencing curfews, confinement, then humanly we are transforming the pain into suffering. I believe that when one accepts pain and lives it after that pain there is a lesson”, José Dolores goes deeper.
“The concept is that, pain as a teaching engine, pain as a place to realize that life is always in motion and that pain is part of it, not like a masochistic guy, but as someone who accepts and transmutes that pain into teachings and not into suffering.”, emphasizes.
“If that teaching penetrates deeply into you, you might like it. of pain, from the teaching point of view, of acceptance, It may hurt and you may like it, It's a bit of a name with a sarcastic twist. regarding the fact that surprisingly everything that at the beginning of 2020 we saw it as something far away, be locked up against our will, order food through mobile applications, finally we liked the confinement it seems, It seems that we liked the pandemic”, express.
The cover has an obvious inspiration in the name “original” from the album, as we said before, Collage, although its elements also relate to the central concept of the album.
“The art on the cover also tries to reflect this painful world a little., where if we follow the guidelines of the system, that pain condemns us to suffer. And if instead of following the system's guidelines we accept the pain, most of the time we learn from that pain and end up liking it”, says the singer about the cover designed by Victoria Rodriguez.

Regarding the album in particular, this counts with 7 songs, 6 of them unpublished, plus a vocal composition, with the style that is usually known from José Dolores, “mainly DJ style, toasting, palaver, a way of speaking singing, with different sounds like, dancehall, rap, reggae digital, Latin American colors too”.
“I want to feel the reaction of the people at the presentation”
As for this Wednesday's show 8 of March, the interpreter of “A New Day” He expressed his enthusiasm for the live presentation of his new production to see the reaction of his followers.
“The purpose is to be able to present the album in its entirety and feel people's reaction to the album., live, because commonly when you release an album you have a long period where people can listen to it before going to see it live and in this case the album came out two weeks ago and next week people are already enjoying it live, So that particular reason attracts me to see what people feel about the new songs.”, express.
further, announced some of the surprises that those who come to the Bellavista SCD Hall next Wednesday will find..
“People will be able to see the Sista Tami show, who is the guest artist, Latin American dancehall champion and will be doing a solo set opening the show that day. We will also have the percussionist from La Floripondio as a guest, Trujillo Boy, From your Quip to Tumba, Juan Gronemeyer, We also have a little surprise prepared there. Everything else they have to go and experience”, stressed.
Likewise, He insisted that this album marks the closing of the cycle related to the pandemic and that he seeks to start a new musical stage and new projects..
“With this album I hope to close a cycle, which is like the cycle 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, post revolt, pandemic, virus, curfew, confinement, and I want to start working on songs and hopefully a new album, but maybe with another address, with another motivation, That's what I mainly hope for.
