The Chamber of Deputies opened a bust in tribute to the leader of the Antiapartheid Resistance and then president of South Africa, Nelson Mandela, In addition to winning the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993.

“South Africa and Mandela's democratic commitment must be immortalized in this parliament for the unquestionable legacy that surpassed borders calling for dialogue and peace. The parliamentarian emphasized that “Having Nelson Mandela in this Corporation is an honor and a reminder that there is still much to do, since we are responsible for maintaining his legacy and continuing the work to eradicate racism, segregation and intolerance, promoting peace and respect among human beings”.
