Empress Menen Foundation raises contributions for the Yawenta Children’s Center

At the beginning of April the Empress Menen Asfaw Foundation start a solidarity campaign to go in support of Yawenta children's center, located in Shashamane, Ethiopia, that helps children, girls and young people in vulnerable situations and who deal with diseases such as HIV and AIDS.

For more than 18 years this center has been actively serving the community, providing comprehensive and educational support to highly vulnerable youth who have been referred by the local Government Office of Women and Children and Health office in Oromia Region.

It started with 9 HIV-positive beneficiaries when it opened its doors in March 2008 Y at the moment, are responsible for the care of 90 girls, children and young people from among 9 Y 24 years, of which the 44% faces the additional challenge of living with the HIV virus.

Over the years, Yawenta has provided support services to more than 250 direct beneficiaries as a school for highly vulnerable and disadvantaged youth.

further, he whatnter indirectly supports others 253 members of their families in other ways vital that include training, medical attention, nutrition, hygiene benefits, psychosocial and recreational support.

FEMA highlights the importance of Yawenta

Sista Gloria, FEMA representative, explains to Reggae Chalice Magazine that “having links with Ethiopia allows us to make known and make visible children and young people who today develop in a more empathetic and safe environment for them and their families.”, what impacts them positively. And we can also observe that they become exemplary leaders for their families and communities”.

"Besides, Yawenta is presented in an organic team that penetrates society at the grassroots level, extending its intangible services beyond the center, within the Shashemane community”, adds Sista Gloria.

The fundraising campaign will run from Wednesday 01 until the 29 April to make a voluntary contribution that will be collected in the bank account of Carla Galdames Calderón, FEMA member. Below we share the information to make donations:
