One of the most popular reggae albums in the world records more than 4 million copies sold there.
The classic album Bob Marley & The Wailers “Legend” was certified 14 times platinum in UK in recognition of the 4,2 million copies sold to 12 August 2022.
The disc, thrown out initially by Island Records and 1984, is probably the most successful of Marley -and perhaps reggae- to date and has been the number 1 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart for 135 weeks, which in itself is a record.
The “Legend” is also currently ranked number 82 on the Billboard 200 after being on the list for 742 non-consecutive weeks, also rose from the number 24 al 19 on the UK Albums Chart and it is the 16th best-selling album in UK history, as published Jamaicans.com.
It has also achieved success around the world and is included in several lists such as those of Australia., Austria, Belgium, Holland, Netherlands , Ireland, Norway and New Zealand, selling more than 30 million copies worldwide, between them, 15 million in the United States alone.
The success of “Legend” was reinforced by the launch in 2002 of the deluxe edition improved and the remixed version of 2013. The remix was available on CD and in digital format and on 2014 another version of the album was released, the edition of 30 anniversary.
