Canis Major enjoys the international success of the “Dancing Time Riddim”

the national singer Canis Major, also know as Jojoman, is enjoying the success his recent “Dancing Time Riddim” that is being heard in many parts of the world and which also managed to enter Jamaica, a difficult market for foreign productions.

It is the first “riddim” produced by dancehall singer, which already has six versions with national and Jamaican artists and a seventh version that is soon to be released and whose artist is kept secret.

In conversation with Reggae Chalice, the artist said he was surprised by the reception of the public, in reference to the song “Wine Pon Time”, version of the riddim with the collaboration of the Jamaican dancer Latonya Style, who is dabbling in singing.  

“The truth has been a total surprise, reason for joy and gratitude, from a challenge dance created by Latonya for the song ‘Wine Pon Time’ we began to be labeled in different countries on various continents as Korea, India, Cambodia, Caribbean, All Europe, even in africa, (the song) became very popular on Tik Tok and Instagram. Until today we have never received a feedback similar”, said the interpreter.

“On the other hand, we have been surprised that in dancehall parties all over the world the theme is selected and also its other versions. Let's just say this riddim gave us reason to say we're doing it right, we are a seal and we go for more. Canis Recordz started in the best way”, stressed.

As it was mentioned already, the riddim was created and produced by Jojoman -with the technical collaboration of Goodmvn– with the idea of ​​doing one more topic“Girly“, “to turn it into a dance instruction aimed at ‘queens'”, and at Latonya's suggestion it became a riddim, since she raised that “the instrumental was very catchy and could have more versions”, mentioned the interpreter of “Do It”.

In that sense, Canis Major admitted that “she was the one who sent it to Suspense, a young promise who today is one of the female artists with the greatest projection on the island, who recorded his version titled ‘Code Church’ and also to the popular selektor1 Brandon, who with his version‘Wah fi Tap E’ became known as a singer”.

These two versions are helping to open the way for riddim on the Caribbean island, commented Canis Major.

“This has been one of the things that has surprised us the most. It is known that Jamaica is not an easy market for foreign artists, but el ‘Dancing Time Riddim’ got into the parties in clubs and on the streets, as well as among renowned local dancers who have used it for choreographies and classes”, the artist emphasized.

In addition to these Jamaican versions of the riddim, there are also local versions made by Almeida (“From Riddim Wine”), Lady Stephy (“Hey Ladies”) Y Boomer (“The motorbike”). The production also had the participation of Matthias Malinarich in your process, engineer of M2O Studies in charge of editing, mixing and mastering of international productions, added to the recording in the case of nationals.

The official release of the riddim

Building on this success, the official release of the local versions of this riddim will take place at the end of January.

The appointment will be 29 from January at Roots Reggae Bar Restaurant (Ernesto Pinto Lagarrigue 195, Recoleta, Bellavista neighborhood), from 16:00 hours, where they will participate Almeida, Lady Stephy, Boomer y Canis Major, who will show these songs live for the first time, In addition to his best known hits.

There will also be a party, with DJ Galo Green at the controls, “on a late night full of dancing, song, surprises and, above all, dancehall in a good atmosphere”.   

Tickets are priced at $7.000 and can be purchased through the Instagram of Canis Recordz, while on the day of the event the price will rise to $10.000.
