The 27th version of the traditional festival will be held between 16 and the 22 August in Benicassim, Spain, after two years suspended due to the health emergency.
A big reunion, that is what the 27th version of the traditional festival promises Rototom Sunsplash which returns after two years of suspension due to the health emergency derived from Covid.
It will be a week, between 16 and the 22 of August, in which this festival will have 73 hours of music in its more than 80 concerts and sessions on the six stages that will bring together reggae and a diversity of musical genres, with artists from more than 30 countries.
Benicassim, Spain, will receive the Rototom audience who will of course enjoy reggae, roots, afrobeats, dub, dancehall, will, hip hop y rap, although also from Balkan, cumbia, trap and punk, on a transcontinental trip.
And in this big return the main course will be the roots reggae represented by the headliner. Burning Spear, who will be accompanied by other references of the genre such as Luciano, Black Uhuru, The Abyssinians, Max Romeo, Clinton Fearon O Sly Dunbar & The Revolutionaries.
The current reggae will sound with the marley brothers (Damian “Jr. Gong” Y Julian), Morgan Heritage O alborosie; and the opening of the festival to afrobeats will land with David. There will be no shortage of ska (The Skatalites), the dub (O.B.F), el dancehall (Sean Paul), hip hop (Mala Rodriguez) or the cumbia, with The White Lady.
Precisely, the Cuban artist represents the weight of female voices that this edition will bring together, and that reflect this successful openness to new musical styles that enrich the contest, as KTGoric (hip hop-rap), Samora (reggae, dancehall y afrobeats), Nkulee Dube (African reggae) O Dub Princess (reggae-dub), among other.
