Dancehall star Buju Banton debuts new single “Summer Body”, the one who has been dubbed as “the anthem of summer” In Jamaica.
"Have a little fun and enjoy life", is the message delivered by the international reggae icon and winner of several Grammy Awards, emphasizing the freedom that comes hand in hand with the summer season after more than a year and a half in confinement due to the Covid pandemic, and that is aimed especially at women.
“Summer Body” defines the mood of many women who yearn to return to the outdoor festivities. Celebrate life, removing doubts and restrictions is the underlying message throughout this single. Produced by Banton himself along with dancehall classic Jon Jon, “Summer Body” features quintessential Buju DJ flair over a hardcore dancehall riddim, setting the tone for the summer soundtrack of 2021 on the island and the north of the world.
The single borrows characteristic sounds from the dancehall reggae era of the 90 from which Buju Banton emerged, but perfectly blending the contemporary sound of the current cultural scene.
The new song is presented after the release of the video for “Hurricane” by Nigerian singer Tomi Thomas in collaboration with Banton.
It should be noted that after the success of his tour "Long Walk To Freedom", Buju Banton released her Grammy nominated album "Upside Down 2020" featuring featured artists like Stephen Marley., John Legend, Pharell Williams y Stefflon Don, and that he was praised by the press on his return to music once he was released after 10 years incarcerated in the United States.
