La 68ª entrega anual de los Premios Grammy, cuya ceremonia se realizará el próximo domingo 1 de febrero de 2026 en Los Ángeles, California, comienza a tomar forma con el anuncio de los álbumes elegibles para las nominaciones finales.

A principios de octubre la Academia publicó las producciones que compiten en cada una de las categorías y sus miembros votan hasta este miércoles 15 para definir a los postulantes que llegarán a la recta final en la competencia por el gramófono dorado, los cuales se conocerán el próximo 7 de noviembre.

En el caso del reggae, en total fueron aceptados 73 álbumes, y, al igual que el resto de categorías, el periodo de elegibilidad fue para producciones realizadas entre el 31 de agosto de 2024 y el 30 de agosto de 2025.

Los principales álbumes

La lista de este año presenta, como ocurre habitualmente, una contundente participación de artistas jamaicanos, con nombres que abarcan los repertorios musicales del reggae y el dancehall.

Entre las propuestas se encuentran Heart & Soul de Vybz Kartel, Time Is Now de Likkle Addi, Treasure Self Love de Lila Iké, Pieces of Me de 450, Prove Them Wrong de Valiant, Good Times de Charly Black, Sherlock de Cham y From Ding Dong to the World de Ding Dong.

Además, la postulación incluye el proyecto asistido por IA Dem Can’t Stop My Joy (Rastafari Forever) de Adrian Donsome Hanson y Forever Roots Band, el primer álbum conocido en esta lista de participantes que incorpora la ayuda de la inteligencia artificial en su creación. Esta nominación apunta a la expansión de las definiciones de arte en el reggae y podría generar debate entre votantes y fans.

Luego que se conozcan los postulantes el 7 de noviembre, la votación final entre los miembros de la Academia para determinar a los ganadores se efectuará entre el 12 de diciembre y el 5 de enero de 2026.
