  • Today the reggae version of the classic eighties popularized by Camilo Sesto was released around the world. One year after his death, the Chilean artist decided to honor the late Spanish star with music.

“Forgive me” is the first outstanding single from Quique Neira's tenth album called “Cover Me Again”.

It was the month of January 1982 and Camilo Sesto decided during a presentation at the Palma de Mallorca auditorium to dedicate the song Perdóname a Joaquina, his mother. It was not an easy moment for the Spanish idol and his family, as 5 months before, the artist's father had died. The moment turned out to be magical and despite Camilo's efforts, the emotional load was so much, that he just couldn't keep singing. It was that moment that made Quique think that he was in front of the song he had to record to pay tribute to the Hispanic idol.

"My mother is a great admirer of Camilo Sesto and that is why his songs have always accompanied my life since I was a child.. His successes are so many, it was quite a job to choose one of your themes. But it was until I saw that presentation where Camilo after dedicating that song to his mother who was in the audience, breaks down in tears, is that I realized that the theme I had to cover was precisely Forgive me. There I closed the circle for me, Well, I met Camilo through my mother and in some way this version that I have just recorded is also dedicated to her and to everything that she transmitted to me and that has helped me so much throughout my life ", Quique holds.

Perdóname was part of the album Amanezando, edited by the Spanish artist in the year 1980 and it is the soundtrack of the lives of millions of Spanish speakers. “I feel that this version is the spark that was expected for many more to come from other artists. This is precisely what happens with the great musical references such as Camilo Sesto. This is my tribute to a great and taking it to the Reggae key was something totally organic, a wonderful experience in the studio ", remarked.
