Matt Doyle is the new lead singer of the band UB40

After a few weeks ago the vocalist of the band UB40 Duncan Campbell announced his retirement from music due to health problems, The British group confirmed the addition of Matt Doyle of the Birmingham reggae band “KIOKO” as the new lead vocalist..

Doyle had previously appeared in UB40 performances after KIOKO was the opening band at the UB40 concert. 40 Brummie legends anniversary at The Royal Albert Hall (2018). They later accompanied his tour of the United Kingdom that same year and also on his European tour in 2019.

further, Matt Doyle participates in “You Don’t Call Anymore”, single from UB40's new collaborative album, “Bigga Baggariddim”, released the past 25 of June.

UB40 guitarist and supporting vocalist Robin Campbell made the announcement, saying the young artist “has shown his ability and compatibility with the band on our latest album Bigga Baggariddim with the track You Don’t Call Anymore.. He is a talented young man with a voice and singing style that will prove to be a good fit and a great asset to the band.. And besides all that, he's also a good guy”.

Meanwhile, Matt Doyle expressed through his social networks feeling honored and grateful for this opportunity presented to him to join the historic British reggae band UB40 in the main voice..

“I don't know how to put into words how incredibly honored and grateful I am to have this opportunity.. I've loved UB40's music for as long as I can remember and that love has only grown since I met them and watched them perform live night after night on tour.. They took KIOKO under their wing and gave us the unique opportunity by inviting us to go on tour., and although I will deeply miss playing the shows with KIOKO, I know that they will continue to do incredible things and that we will always be the best of colleagues ", added Doyle. The singer also dedicated words of strength and success in the recovery of his predecessor, Duncan Campbell.

Doyle will play with UB40 on all the dates scheduled for this European summer, starting on 31 July at Lingfield Park Racecourse, before embarking on the band's 24-date UK tour in November and December.
