The new song of the Chilean group premieres this Friday 4 September in two versions, Spanish and English, both with the participation of the Jamaican Mykal Rose, the iconic voice of Black Uhuru. gondwana meets 33 years as one of the most recognized groups of the reggae genre in Spanish.
‘We Are The Lions’ is a song written by the leader of the band I-Locks Labbé, inspired by the consciousness and resistance of the Rastafarian culture. The bass player showed his demo toMykal Rose -voice of one of his referent bands such as Black Uhuru-, who wanted to collaborate making their own adaptation of the theme. That's why the new single will have two versions, one in Spanish with the collaboration of Mykal and the English version interpreted by the Jamaican.
The song was originally recorded at the Sonorámica studio in Córdoba, Argentina, by the prestigious engineerMariano Bilinkis (Catupecu Machu, the balls) and that he worked with the Chileans on their previous album 'Carpe Diem’ (2017). Although due to the pandemic the development of the theme was produced at a distance; the singer's choirsBeat Songbird and voice ofMykal Rose were registered in Miami, the mix was handled by the multi-Grammy winnerIker Ganstaminza(Boyz II Men, Beck, Fonseca) besidedario adames and mastering in New York byRandy Hills in the classic Sterling Sound studios under the supervision of I-Locks Labbé, quarantined at home in Costa Rica.
The video clip that will be released this Friday along with the single on digital platforms, is a 3D animation by the Chilean Raimundo Acuña, who led the group to play the grand final of a soccer match in a packed stadium, accompanied on the court by Mykal Rose and where he also participates Fidel Nadal in the locution
Before the declaration of the pandemic, the group had concerts announced in Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala and a tour of more than 30 cities across the United States, events that have been postponed until further notice. Even so, the group is already preparing for a virtual meeting, a concert via Streaming that will bring them together from their homes next 12 of September, event that had been initially scheduled for mid-August but was rescheduled due to technical problems.
