Gondwana returns to the stage on 25 October

  • After eight months separated by the quarantine, Gondwana will be playing via Streaming with a live transmission from a capital venue and without an in-person audience. The concert scheduled by a Mexican platform will coincide with the afternoon of the plebiscite in Chile.

Until before the declaration of the pandemic, the national group had concerts announced in Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala and a tour of more than 30 cities in the United States, all events postponed until further notice. For more than a decade Gondwana has averaged 70 annual shows that are mostly abroad, including the main Latin American rock festivals in Mexico, Argentina or Peru. Activity that only stopped with the cancellation of flights and events last March.

Meanwhile the group released their new single ‘We are the Lions‘ as a preview of an upcoming album, the successor of ‘Carpe diem‘ (2017). The song featured the collaboration of the Jamaican Mykal Rose (emblematic voice of the rasta group Black Uhuru) that accompanies the voice of Maxi Vargas, singer who has returned to the group after a decade of solo career.

And the next Sunday 25 October the group will meet again for a live show, together for the first time since March on a stage in Santiago, With the exception of the bassist and leader I-Locks Labbé who is based in Costa Rica and will play remotely. Transmission will begin at 21:30 Chile hours and tickets can be obtained through Ticketmaster Mexico (entrance plus service charge $201 Mexican pesos, equivalent to $7.300 Chilean pesos), event organized by the Mexican producer Ocesa and in which the Mexican ska group will also participate The Bizarre.

The Chilean group is one of the most recognized of the reggae genre in Spanish, with more than three decades of history and 23 years since their classic debut album. They are also one of the most listened to national groups on Spotify, surpassing the 1.400.000 monthly listeners.
