The race for the Grammy Reggae began!!

The nominees for delivery no. 64 from the Grammy Awards. There are six productions that compete for the gramophone for Best Reggae Album and the winners will be awarded in January 2022.

It is the first time in 36 years of history of the category for Best Reggae Album that two women have been nominated simultaneously. It should be remembered that only five women have been previously nominated in that category: Koffee, who won in 2020 with on EP "Rapture"; Etana nominated for “Reggae Forever” in 2018, Rita Marley por “We Must Carry On” en 1991; Sister Carol by “Lyrically Potent” in 1996; Judy Mowatt by "Working Wonders" on 1985.

  • It's the first nomination for Spice, Jesse Royal y Gramps Morgan.
  • Gramps Morgan, as part of Morgan Heritage, has been nominated twice and won it once in 2015, with the album "Strictly Roots".
  • It is the sixth nomination for Sean Paul in the Reggae category.. He won the Reggae Grammy for his album "Dutty Rock" on 2003.
  • It is the second nomination for Etana and the eighth album of her career..
  • It is the third nomination for the American band SOJA, and the only selected ones that do not come from Jamaica.
  • Only one woman has been a gramophone winner, and it was young Koffe in 2019 por su EP debut “Rapture”.
  • Rocky Dawuni's Voice of Bunbon Vol album. 1 has been nominated in the category BEST GLOBAL MUSIC ALBUM, where it competes against the album Made in Lagos (Deluxe Edition) the Wizkid, featuring Jamaican artists Damian Marley and Projexx.
  • Aaron Nigel Smith has been nominated as part of 1 Tribe Collective with their album All One Tribe in the category of Best Music Album for Children.
